Why are so many people losing faith in God?

I asked a question earlier about why Scientists are trying to prove God does not exist and why they want to put our lives at risk with their "Big Bang Theory" test. Well I just got called all kinds of names from "retarded for believing in God" to stupid and an idiot. This saddens me to see so many people go against God this way and hate and bad mouth anyone who believes in God and Jesus Christ. I dont judge others for their religious choices so why is it cool now to not believe in God?
