How do I know if this boy is gay, or how do I go about finding out?

Okei sooo, there is this boy in my homeroom, and two lockers down from me. I find him extremely attractive :) But he is a big basketball player and is up in the popularity chain so he might be embarred to come out because or rejection from his friends..he is a twin and scientific studies show that in one set of twins, one twin is 70% gay and I believe it's him..I have caught him staring at me plenty of times, and I occasionally say hi :) And about three weeks ago, I bumped into his show and gasped loudly, and I said sorry and he smiled at me and said "It's ok" Also he always will put his feet near mine but whenever I look down, he pulls away, and he also has UFC fatheads on his notebooks so idk :/ Can someone help me on how I can at least get things started? I really want to be with him
