Can a single child abuse event leave major life-long issues?
I recently encountered a situation involving a woman in her early 30s; she was enthusiastically promiscuous from early teens to mid 20s, before getting pregnant, married and settling down. Now she's swung the other way and hates physical contact with men, not even enjoying it with her husband, despite being an otherwise happy relationship. She puts all of these issues/emotions down to a couple of hours ual abuse at the hands of a neighbour when she was 9. Whilst I'm in no way belittling such a wrong and unpleasant event I'm curious as to whether it's normal to have such major and long lasting effects?
